Miyamoto Shrine> Kong:
Features> 1st Birthday
Well, it's been a crazy old year. I started work
on the site almost two years ago and we finally launched on April 28th 2002 with
a few features and some very basic game pages. Since then We've appeared in N64
Magazine, did an interview for Kansai Time Out magazine in Japan, We've given
Mr. Miyamoto two business cards and actually have him remember who we are the
second time around.
Carl Johnson. Where is he? Most of you were
probably only attracted to the site because he was attached and hell, who can
blame you? He's hands down the best Videogame journalist/writer I've ever met.
Back in late 2000 when I first started work on MS he had just arrived home from
Spaceworld 2000 in Japan (that's right, the one with the Gamecube unveiling) and
was extremely enthusiastic about anything and everything Nintendo. But two years
is a long time and alot of things have changed in his life since then. He still
pays his monthly share of the hosting fees (and sometimes all of the
hosting fees) and pumps out the occasional editorial, and with his new job
making short films (god, I'd love to do that) I'm very confident that he's going
to go places whichever path he chooses. Without Carl the site wouldn't be here
and it definitely wouldn't have been this successful.
So what do I have planned out for the next year?
Well, of course E3 is next month and we'll
be covering all the new games announced at the show and transcribing all the
interviews that Mr. Miyamoto does. In the months after May it's all about
imports, I'll of course be receiving Mario Kart, F-Zero, Pikmin 2 and all the
other titles being released this year and I'll be posting all the screenshots
and info you'll ever need. Whatever else happens, happens. We couldn't have
planned out half of the fantastic stuff that took place over the last year.
Next year Carl and I plan to go to E3. You
can be assured that that is going to be one hell of an E3. Especially if I can
persuade Carl to write up a new E3 Experience feature!
And finally I'd like to thank the following
people for their help and support over the last year. Adam Doree for helping us
with our hosting problems and all the help and support he's given us over the
last year. Brandon DeHart for his non-stop support and encouragement, before I
started Miyamoto Shrine Brandon was like a god to me and he still is. Everyone
over at Planet Gamecube for linking to us twice and letting a hell of
alot of people know that we exist. Aaron Holt (zeldapower.com)
for all his support and advice, he is the only reason I bother logging on to ICQ.
Everyone on our Forum for sticking around when they could've buggered off to IGN
or something. And of course Mr. Miyamoto for making fantastic games and keeping
me entertained.
On to the second year.
