Super Nintendo > The Joypad

The SNES joypad is based on the 'dog-bone' pads released late in the Super Famicoms life in Japan. The SNES pad brought with it what is now a industry standard; shoulder buttons.

The 4 button layout on the right side of the pad proved almost perfect for most genres (especially fighting) and it was so good Sega re-designed their Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) pad to give it more buttons.
